A Snapshot of Danny's Career

Danny Green took up boxing at the late age of 18. Danny won numerous state titles before moving to the AIS to train for the Commonwealth Games and Olympics.

After the 2000 Olympics he was approached by triple world champion Jeff Fenech to turn professional. That he did, and what an impact he has had since!

As they say, the rest is history!

He quickly advanced through the ranks and within 3 years fought for and controversially lost, then won the WBC Super Middleweight World Title. From this Green continued at super middle weight and continued his move up the rankings. In December 2005 the agreement was put in place to fight arch rival and fellow Australian super middle weight Anthony Mundine as a WBA super middle weight world title eliminator. This fight took place in May 2006 and achieved the following records;

  • Highest grossing super middle weight bout in world boxing history
  • Highest grossing fight gate in Australian boxing history
  • Highest grossing fight pay per view in Australian boxing history
  • Highest fight pay per view audience in Australian boxing history

Unfortunately Green lost over 12 rounds on points but the event was something him and his team can be extremely proud of. Green has never made excuses for this loss but craves redemption!

From this bout Green felt that a move to light heavy weight was inevitable. Since this he has knocked out two top ranked Australian light heavy's Jason Delisle and Paul Murdoch to capture the WBA regional PABA and the IBF regional Pan Pacific titles which has moved him into the top 10 in both organisations as well as the WBC.

2007 could just be the year that the Green Machine shows his best and comes away with that much deserved light heavy weight world title.
