2005 Australian Marketing Institute Award

In 2004, Paramount Safety Products launched a major re-branding campaign with the ProChoice brand. The distinctive ProChoice packaging and the relating marketing strategies won the Western Australian division of the Australian Marketing Institute award for branding in 2005. The same attention to detail that has gone into the branding and packaging is reflected in all aspects of the company's activities.

In 1992, Rob Bird founded Paramount Safety Products. With offices all over Australia and in Malaysia, our company continues to develop, produce and supply an ever expanding range of quality safety gear which meets the requirements of Australian industry and working conditions.

What were the reasons for starting your business?
I left stockbroking in the early nineties and was looking for a new challenge. OH&S was gaining prominence and I saw enormous potential in safety products. As it turned out, I was in the right place at the right time.

What motivates you to succeed?
The thrill of the chase! I thrive on competiton and love a challenge.

How do you create and sustain competitive advantage?
We place a high emphasis on the quality of our product and offer a level of service to our customers that guarantees on time delivery. It's also extremely important to stand out from our competitors and I believe that we are innovative in the marketing and packaging of our products.

How do you measure your achievements and success?
The benchmark most important to me is seeing staff grow, develop and reach their potential.

How do you think your competitors would describe you?
A troublesome competitor who is fighting outside his weight division!
